About the position

The Federal Reserve Board (Board) offers a unique opportunity for students through its Summer 2025 Internship program in Financial Accounting Policy & Reporting (RBOPS). This internship is designed for undergraduate and graduate students who are currently enrolled in an accredited university and plan to return to their studies after the internship. The program aims to provide valuable work experience in fields such as economics, finance, accounting, information systems, and data analysis. Interns will gain practical knowledge that is essential for success in a competitive global job market. Internships at the Board are paid positions, with compensation based on credit hours, and can be conducted in-person, remotely, or in a hybrid format depending on team needs. Interns will receive a syllabus or research project plan that outlines their projects and goals, and they will be assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them throughout the internship. Regular check-in meetings with managers will help manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Additionally, interns will have access to a variety of training programs and professional development events. The Financial Accounting Policy and Reporting (AP&R) team, part of the Board's division of Reserve Bank Operations and Payment Systems, plays a crucial role in providing financial information to the public and ensuring the proper collateralization of Federal Reserve notes. The intern will support key projects within the AP&R team, including testing financial information system enhancements, reviewing Reserve Bank oversight documentation, performing routine financial reporting, and assisting with updates to accounting policy documentation. This internship will help interns develop competencies in career and self-development, communication, critical thinking, integrity and professionalism, leadership, teamwork, and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Support the AP&R team in key projects related to financial accounting and reporting.
  • Test financial information system enhancements to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Review Reserve Bank oversight documentation for compliance and accuracy.
  • Perform routine financial reporting tasks as assigned.
  • Assist with updates to accounting policy documentation.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university.
  • Returning to continue studies after the internship.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Teams and Excel.
