About the position

The Summer 2025 Intern - Site Reliability Engineer role at Salesforce involves joining the Site Reliability organization to monitor and maintain the availability of cloud services. The intern will work closely with the Infrastructure and R&D teams to swiftly address service-impacting issues, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of the Salesforce cloud. This position emphasizes incident management, problem resolution, and proactive monitoring to secure data and enhance service availability.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor cloud service availability and swiftly repair service-impacting issues.
  • Act in key support roles during major incidents (e.g., Sev0, Sev1).
  • Participate in the technical review of incidents for problem management.
  • Populate and participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and hand them off to the Global Solutions team.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's internal policies and directives during operations.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to resolve customer concerns and technical issues.
  • Lead team members in staying updated on industry innovations and technology.
  • Automate detection and resolution of recurring issues in the production environment.
  • Create and improve processes to reduce operational and engineering toil.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a BS/MS program in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Attending a College or University in North America.
  • Experience in systems engineering for enterprise-scale internet services.
  • Expertise in TCP/IP related technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Unix variants (Linux/Solaris/BSD) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Understanding of monitoring security systems and administration.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in Incident Management and understanding of ITIL service operations.
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7 team environment and be on call if required.
  • Experience with AWS/C2S infrastructure and systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Go.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Chef/Puppet or automated deployment tools.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins/Bamboo/Spinnaker pipeline execution.
  • Experience in supporting and maintaining monitoring and alert systems.
  • Experience with Java applications.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS configuration and CLI/SDKs.
  • Certifications in Linux+, RedHat, and AWS.
  • Experience with Kubernetes applications and services.
  • Familiarity with Agile Process and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience in conducting blameless retrospectives and post-incident investigations.
