About the position

The Summer 2025 Intern position in Tableau Research at Salesforce is designed for PhD students who are passionate about research and data analytics. This internship offers the opportunity to work on real projects that contribute to Tableau's mission of helping people see and understand data. Interns will collaborate closely with mentors, engage in research activities, and potentially co-author academic papers, all while gaining valuable insights into product development and industry research.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a mentor to define and execute a research project.
• Present updates and findings during team meetings.
• Design and prototype research solutions, potentially involving user studies.
• Create a final presentation and write-up of the project.
• Contribute to co-authoring an academic paper based on the research conducted.

Requirements

• PhD student in good academic standing with research and publishing experience.
• Strong technical skills in prototyping languages such as D3/JavaScript, Python, R, C++, C#, Java, or Go.
• Experience in setting up user studies and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
• Strong computational skills in statistical modeling, data wrangling, and model validation.
• Clear written and oral communication skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous internship experience in a related field.
