About the position

The Summer 2025 Internship in Data & Analytics at Ally Financial is designed to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the financial services industry through hands-on experience and mentorship. This internship will take place from May 20, 2025, to August 1, 2025, and will be a full-time, in-person opportunity located at 2911 Lake Vista Drive, TX. Interns will engage with diverse teams and functions across the company, gaining insights into various aspects of data analytics and strategic risk management. The program emphasizes professional development, offering networking opportunities, leadership experiences, and the chance to present at the end of the assignment. Interns will work within several key areas, including Strategic Risk Management, Product Management, and Consumer Strategy & Decision Science. In Strategic Risk Management, interns will collaborate with teams focused on Data Solutions, Loss Forecasting & Reserving, and Sales Performance. They will learn to translate business needs into actionable insights through data visualization and analytics. The Product Management team will expose interns to product strategies and process optimization, while the Consumer Strategy & Decision Science team will provide experience in analyzing consumer data to drive business decisions. Throughout the internship, participants will be expected to contribute to project-based work, participate in formal company orientation and training, and engage in an executive speaking series. The program is structured to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical business applications, ensuring that interns leave with valuable skills and experiences that will benefit their future careers in the financial services and technology sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project-based work related to data analytics and strategic risk management.
  • Collaborate with teams to design and develop tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for data visualization.
  • Execute loss forecasting and reporting for the Auto Retail Portfolio.
  • Support the creation and execution of incentive plans for Ally employees.
  • Analyze consumer data to assess performance and trends, providing insights for business improvement.
  • Engage in leadership and career development experiences, including networking opportunities.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a rising Junior or Senior in a full-time undergraduate program.
  • Strong analytical skills and a passion for the financial services and technology industry.
  • Ability to work in an agile team and enjoy complex problem-solving.
  • Technical proficiency in tools such as SAS, Snowflake, PowerBI, Excel, and Python is beneficial.
  • Eligible to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with financial analysis and risk management concepts.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex data in an intuitive format.
