About the position
The Intern within the IMCS Production group at Amtrak will assist in managing and overseeing internal Capital construction projects in the New England Division. This role involves both office and field work, requiring collaboration with various stakeholders and close supervision from Production managers. The intern will utilize engineering and construction management knowledge to support project execution and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the management and oversight of internal Amtrak Capital construction projects.
- Collect, consolidate, and review project performance data from field personnel.
- Support project teams with production reporting and delay reporting.
- Assist in the development of project critical path scheduling and project execution plans.
- Develop Site Specific Safety Work Plans (SSSWP) to ensure job safety.
- Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with Amtrak's safety rules and policies.
Requirements
- Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- At least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or sophomore status at minimum.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
Nice-to-haves
- Relevant work experience (e.g., internships, summer positions, school jobs).
- 2 years of academic undergraduate studies completed or junior status.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
- Ability to coordinate efforts with other technical disciplines.
- Strong safety focus.
- Demonstrated experience in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
