About the position

The Software Applications Internship at Blue Origin offers undergraduate students the opportunity to work directly with experienced engineers on projects that support the company's mission in space exploration. Interns will engage in various aspects of software development, contributing to aerospace software applications, mission control software, and enterprise technology. This full-time internship lasts for a minimum of 12 weeks and is designed to provide hands-on experience in a collaborative and innovative environment focused on safety and efficiency in spaceflight operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers on software development projects related to aerospace applications.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and testing of software used for mission operations.
  • Build frameworks and tools for integrating spaceflight systems with model simulations.
  • Assist in the development of ground software systems and tools for vehicle testing and flight.
  • Support the digital infrastructure development for Blue Origin's mission through Enterprise Technology.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee.
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
  • Completed at least one year of full-time coursework post high school graduation.
  • Available to work full-time for a minimum of 12 weeks without concurrent coursework.
  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated passion for the mission and vision of Blue Origin.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant internship or co-op experience in software development.
  • Hands-on project experience in software coding.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, JavaScript, React, and TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with full-stack software development, machine learning, and AI.
  • Experience with Spark, SQL, Tableau, and AWS.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a team environment.
