About the position

The Summer 2025 TAB Mechanical Engineering Co-op at McKenney's Inc. is an entry-level position designed for students to assist in the day-to-day operations of the TAB department. The role focuses on learning about HVAC systems, NEBB standards, and supporting various projects under the guidance of the TAB supervisor. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the mechanical engineering field while interacting with project managers, customers, and technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Assist field operations by scheduling projects and labor with the TAB supervisor.
  • Communicate with technicians and project managers to facilitate the resolution of action items.
  • Estimate project hours and costs for TAB project management.
  • Review project specifications and contract documents.
  • Build project quotes and proposals for customers.
  • Create project documentation and edit drawings as needed.
  • Review equipment and design values to ensure compliance.
  • Write RFIs to resolve design discrepancies and analyze reported field data.
  • Ensure adherence to the equipment calibration program and assist in sending out equipment for calibration.
  • Participate in the company's co-op lunch and learn program.
  • Maintain opportunities in Salesforce and communicate directly with customers to ensure timely proposal receipt.
  • Read and interpret project mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment performance data to determine proper balancing techniques and project management approaches.
  • Participate in regular site visits and provide feedback to team members and supervisors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic PC experience in Windows environments.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, web-enabled applications, and database software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Dynamics SL.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Smartsheet.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to deadlines.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated with strong reasoning, math, science, and technical skills.
