The Cyber Advanced Analysis Team (CAAT) at Navy Federal Credit Union is part of the Information Security Division's Automation and Special Projects group, focusing on identifying, tracking, and mitigating cyber threats that affect Navy Federal Members. The team addresses systemic and persistent threats such as fraud schemes and identity theft, collaborating with various departments to innovate and automate protective measures against these risks. The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship that runs from May 2025 to August 2025, designed for students who are currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, with an expected graduation date of December 2025 or later. During this internship, associates will engage in impactful projects and meaningful work, culminating in a presentation of their research findings at the end of the summer. Potential projects for the Summer Associate may include conducting retrospective research on Navy Federal Members' accounts that have experienced account takeover (ATO) incidents, with the goal of developing a model to identify potential fraud losses that could be mitigated by new security controls. Other projects may involve investigating phishing sites targeting Navy Federal Members to analyze commonalities in the phishing kits or infrastructure used, or building a machine learning model to classify threats from the deep and dark web that could impact Navy Federal Members.
