About the position

The Summer Associate Intern at Hines will support senior management in various aspects of real estate investment, development projects, and asset management. This role is designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the real estate sector, contributing to project management, financial analysis, and market research while working closely with a team of professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior management with real estate investment and development projects.
  • Provide administrative and financial support to ensure project completion and underwriting new market opportunities.
  • Participate in the management of development projects including feasibility analysis, entitlement processes, financing, design, contracting, and construction management.
  • Participate in the asset management of existing properties, including tenant relations and investor communications.
  • Perform financial analysis of acquisitions and development opportunities using Argus and Excel software.
  • Monitor project budgets and schedules for significant variances and oversee contractor payments.
  • Assist in the leasing of properties, including reviewing lease documents with legal counsel.
  • Facilitate the marketing of projects to investors and ensure proper documentation of project agreements.
  • Monitor the flow of information regarding project design among interested parties.
  • Work closely with personnel to design and implement marketing plans.
  • Develop awareness of market opportunities and provide support for project design and site selection activities.
  • Serve as a member of various project teams as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA strongly preferred.
  • Three or more years of work experience with a professional organization.
  • Two or more years of related experience in real estate or financial analysis.
  • Ability to analyze real estate and industry trends from a strategic point of view.
  • Strong numerical and financial calculation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to exchange ideas and information effectively.
  • Creative thinking and ability to contribute to project success.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working atmosphere among staff.
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology and the internet for job functions.
  • High degree of integrity and ability to withstand long working hours.
