About the position

The Summer Associate position within Navy Federal's Enterprise Risk - Data Risk Governance team offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data governance best practices and oversight activities. This 12-week internship program, running from May to August 2025, is designed for students pursuing a degree in relevant fields, providing them with impactful projects that enhance their understanding of data risk management and governance.

Responsibilities

• Researching emerging data risks and leading data governance risk management tools and capabilities.
• Performing operational support to the Data Risk Governance program, including managing stakeholder intake requests and reporting on workflow tracking execution and completion.
• Identifying areas for process improvement and providing inputs to key performance indicators and metrics.
• Supporting Data Risk Governance stakeholder training, engagement, and communications planning, coordination, and execution.
• Providing day-to-day operational support.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree (BS or MS preferred).
• Preferred coursework or capstone work focused on data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, business analytics/intelligence, or decision science.
• Experience using data and analytic tools such as Excel, Tableau, PowerBI; exposure to data governance tools and capabilities (e.g., Databricks, Collibra, Alation) is desirable.
• Data science and analysis programming exposure (e.g., Python, SQL, R) is a plus.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills.
• Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
