Summer Associates will receive targeted training and mentoring, allowing them to develop a robust skill set that is essential for success in the finance sector. They will work closely with management and various levels of staff, gaining insights into the operational aspects of finance and accounting. The position emphasizes collaboration and independent work, ensuring that associates can contribute meaningfully to the team while also honing their individual capabilities. The role includes responsibilities such as analyzing business portfolio performance, supporting forecast model improvements, and developing financial forecasts. Associates will also consolidate business segment performance and financial reporting, providing critical support to assigned departments. This position is ideal for those looking to gain hands-on experience in finance while contributing to the strategic priorities of Navy Federal Credit Union.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of business portfolio performance using data manipulation and visualization techniques
  • Support forecast model improvements through the analysis of key business trends
  • Develop financial forecasts and analyze key performance metrics to provide meaningful insight into business trends, risk and regulatory environments, technology modernization, and financial performance
  • Consolidate business segment performance and financial reporting
  • Provide support to assigned department, may work on small projects or portions of larger projects
  • Develop skills in the creation, execution, and prioritization of system modernization and risk tasks to support the evaluation of the operational performance of existing controls and devise remediation strategies that align control performance with the appropriate risk mitigation methodology
  • Assist and collaborate with various levels of staff to accomplish tasks/assignments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Course work in Finance, Accounting and Economics, but not required to be concentrated in these fields
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with research, analysis, and data manipulation
  • Strong communication and presentation-building skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
