About the position

Navy Federal's Membership Division is dedicated to achieving the credit union's corporate strategic objectives, which include expanding the membership base, enhancing member engagement, personalizing offers and experiences, and consistently meeting member needs across all channels in a competitive and rapidly evolving financial services landscape. The Membership Division aims to ensure that every potential and existing member views Navy Federal as their preferred financial institution. To drive growth, the division employs promotions, incentives, and competitive rates, while also prioritizing world-class member service to maintain satisfaction among members. The Summer Associate Internship in the Membership Division will be a 12-week program, commencing in May 2025 and concluding in August 2025. The intern will work in a flexible hybrid environment and report to leadership at the headquarters in Vienna, VA. The role will involve analyzing data and competitive trends to identify opportunities and create recommendations that influence decision-makers. Key focus areas may include generating personalized insights through segmentation and member research, evaluating the FinTech landscape, and developing data-driven recommendations based on comprehensive internal and external analyses. The ideal candidate will be a strong data storyteller, capable of quickly grasping the evolving product strategy and connecting detailed data insights to broader business trends to formulate actionable recommendations that yield results.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the competitive landscape and emerging financial technology players to identify best practices, shifting trends, and areas of opportunity.
  • Analyze member data to understand, predict, and identify opportunities to influence member behavior through predictive and prescriptive analytics.
  • Develop recommendations for strategic initiatives or program changes to various aspects of the Membership lifecycle based on findings.
  • Support recommendations with data and empirical evidence, and develop a roadmap or action plan as applicable.
  • Develop and present proposals on findings from analysis and research to management up to and including senior executives.
  • Become integrated into and participate in the day-to-day strategy, analysis, and operations of the team.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with research, analysis, and data manipulation.
  • Experience using data and analytic tools such as PowerBI, SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Databricks.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfort working with large datasets and telling stories with data.
  • Ability to work independently and think outside of the box.
  • Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of financial services/payments is preferred.
