About The Position

The Summer Camp Counselor position at Camp Triumph is a temporary role focused on providing therapeutic support to special needs children aged 6-16. Counselors will work in a structured environment, utilizing behavioral strategies to help campers develop social and emotional skills through cooperative activities. The camp operates from June 23rd to August 15th, 2025, and counselors are expected to work Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Requirements

• Previous child and special needs experience (Head Counselor)
• Masters preferred for Head Counselor, but relevant experience or graduate students considered
• Bachelor's degree preferred for Group Counselor, but relevant undergraduate students considered
• Previous child experience needed for Group Counselor and 1 to 1 Counselor

Nice To Haves

• Experience in mental health or educational fields
• Enrollment in relevant graduate or undergraduate programs

Responsibilities

• Develop behavior plans for campers (Head Counselor)
• Plan daily activities (Head Counselor)
• Supervise 2 or 3 counselors (Head Counselor)
• Communicate with parents (Head Counselor and Group Counselor)
• Write progress reports (Head Counselor and Group Counselor)
• Carry out behavior plans (Group Counselor)
• Work with 3-4 primary campers on specific behavioral goals (Group Counselor)
• Run camp activities (Group Counselor)
• Provide extra assistance to campers needing more support (1 to 1 Counselor)
• Carry out a behavioral program for a special needs camper (1 to 1 Counselor)
