About the position

The Research Analyst 2 position at the Oregon Department of Human Services focuses on developing tools for data collection and analysis related to the Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (Summer EBT) program. The role involves synthesizing and interpreting data to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring alignment with agency policies, and providing insights to leadership and partner agencies. This position is integral to reducing food insecurity for children during the summer months when school meals are unavailable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tools to gather and analyze data related to the Summer EBT program.
  • Compile and interpret data from various sources to make recommendations on system updates and program policies.
  • Provide analysis of data to ensure alignment with agency policy and report progress to leadership.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from various stakeholders to improve program efficiency.
  • Recommend system updates and modifications to meet program goals.
  • Collaborate with vendors and partner agencies to address data integration barriers.
  • Prepare updates on policy and strategy status for leadership and agencies.
  • Provide consultative guidance on program trends and research findings.
  • Present research information to various stakeholders for organizational change.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in any discipline with six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods; OR three years of experience as a research assistant comparable to a Research Analyst 1; OR two years of experience using computer applications for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with elementary statistical or quantitative analysis methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and visualization.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and R Studio for geospatial analysis and statistical modeling.
  • Expertise in data analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Experience in creating user-friendly dashboards for leadership and government agencies.
  • Knowledge of research tools and industry trends.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Skilled in creating compelling data visualizations and testing methodologies for data accuracy.
  • Experience in system design and implementation.
