About the position

The Summer Ignite Assistant Director at The Salvation Army Camp Arnold is responsible for supporting the Ignite Director in implementing the Ignite program curriculum and ensuring a meaningful experience for participants. This role involves collaboration in planning activities, providing mentorship, and facilitating daily bible studies, while also managing administrative tasks related to the program.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold Camp Arnold policies and Protecting the Mission standards.
  • Assist the Ignite Director in the implementation of Ignite program curriculum.
  • Attend program staff and general staff orientation.
  • Participate in all Ignite specific programming and camp programs as required by the summer program director.
  • Collaborate with the Ignite Director to plan and execute meaningful discipleship activities for participants.
  • Lead orientation and ensure an engaging onboarding experience for all participants.
  • Assist in planning and executing the campout and hike to Mt. Rainier during orientation.
  • Build positive relationships with participants, providing mentorship and guidance in their faith journey.
  • Create an inclusive atmosphere for participants to explore and deepen their faith.
  • Facilitate daily bible studies for Ignite participants and lead daily check-ins.
  • Assist in all-staff small groups as needed and lead weekly one-on-one debrief sessions with participants.
  • Assist in creating orientation and weekly schedules for Ignite participants.
  • Communicate effectively with the camp program team and Ignite Director, and with parents of participants.

Requirements

  • Experience in program implementation and collaboration.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to mentor and guide participants in their faith journey.
  • Experience in facilitating group discussions and bible studies.
  • Administrative skills for scheduling and communication.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in youth mentorship or leadership roles.
  • Familiarity with camp programming and activities.
