About the position

The Summer Intern Electrical Power Systems position at General Dynamics Land Systems offers students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in the field of electrical engineering, specifically focusing on power systems for military vehicles. This three-month internship allows interns to work alongside experienced professionals in the Advanced System Engineering group, contributing to the design, development, and integration of power subsystems for combat vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Help with the design, development, testing and support of intelligent electrical power distribution and management systems for military vehicles.
  • Perform laboratory and/or vehicle testing/integration work.
  • Investigate/debug complex power system interfaces in lab or vehicle.
  • Assist with drawing power system architectures and schematics using Capital Logic software.
  • Responsible for testing power distribution and management systems and their associated power distribution hardware components and creating reports on findings.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited 4-year university or college, in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Attained at least a sophomore status based on university/college's class standing requirements at the start of the internship.
  • Course work in Power Electronics required.
  • Must successfully pass standard pre-employment screens and provide an official college or university transcript before the first day of employment.
  • Must be able to complete a minimum of a full-time, 3-month assignment.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with CAN bus design J1939 Standard using Vector tools a plus.
