About the position

The Summer Intern position in Electronic Lethality Hardware Design at General Dynamics Land Systems offers students an opportunity to gain practical experience in engineering while supporting the development of electronic components for military vehicles. This three-month internship allows interns to work closely with experienced professionals, contributing to real-world projects and enhancing their skills in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical components and subsystems for Crew Station and display hardware.
  • Support concept to production delivery including design, debug, test, and qualification.
  • Develop Engineering Design Fixes and coordinate solutions.
  • Support circuit design, component selection, procurement, and prototype hardware debug and builds.
  • Review and develop hardware and software requirement documents and test plans.
  • Maintain strong record keeping skills with a commitment to tracking design changes and debug status.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited 4-year university or college.
  • Attained at least a Sophomore Status based on university/college's class standing requirements at the start of the internship.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (i.e., a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.).
  • Must successfully pass standard pre-employment screens and provide an official college or university transcript before the first day of employment.
  • Must be able to complete a minimum of a full-time, 3-month assignment.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit design including power and thermal analysis.
  • Familiarity with schematic development, component selection, and circuit simulation.
  • Knowledge of microprocessor-based products including processors, chipsets, memory, and bus interfaces.
  • Experience with networking products, switches, routers, and OSI layers.
  • Familiarity with graphics/video interfaces and display design work.
