About the position

The General Dynamics Land Systems 2025 Summer Internship Program offers students a chance to transition from academia to industry through a three-month internship. Interns will gain real-world experience in engineering, specifically supporting Firepower Hardware Engineering design and verification activities related to various systems including Gun & Turret Drive Systems, Automatic Ammunition Handling Systems, and Missile Systems. The program emphasizes mentorship from experienced professionals and provides a competitive compensation package based on the intern's area of study and class standing.

Responsibilities

  • Support vehicle Firepower Hardware Engineering design activities based on system-level requirements, including requirements analysis, design, test plans, test execution, & test reports.
  • Perform laboratory and/or vehicle testing/integration.
  • Investigate/debug complex system interfaces.
  • Support Technical Reviews and testing.
  • Coordinate with other organizations, compiling input, and providing status or direction as required.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year university or college in an Engineering discipline, preferably Electromechanical, Robotics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Attained at least a sophomore status based on university/college's class standing requirements at the start of the internship.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (lawful permanent resident of the U.S.).
  • Must successfully pass standard pre-employment screens and provide an official college or university transcript before the first day of employment.
  • Must be able to complete a minimum of a full-time, 3-month assignment.
  • Must meet Anthropomorphic Size Restriction (ASR) requirements to work within military vehicles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated leadership and technical skills, commensurate with experience.
  • Demonstrated initiative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with direction from others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, CAD (CREO/NX), and/or Teamcenter.
