Summer Internship 2025 - Quantum Computing

About the position

The Summer Internship 2025 at Riverlane offers current students in technical fields the opportunity to gain practical experience in quantum computing. Interns will work full-time for 10 to 12 weeks at the company's Head Office in Cambridge, UK, collaborating with a diverse team of experts in software and hardware engineering, mathematics, quantum information theory, computational chemistry, and physics. The internship aims to enhance Riverlane's capabilities through the development of algorithms and software, culminating in a concrete output such as a paper, product, or software tool.

Responsibilities

• Develop, devise and research algorithms and software to enhance Riverlane's capabilities.
• Contribute to one or more projects that are core to Riverlane's goals.
• Discuss ideas with colleagues and communicate work in the form of presentations and reports.
• Develop an understanding of quantum computers and their industrial applications.

Requirements

• Current student in 2nd+ year of Bachelor's or partway through Master's or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven ability in computational and/or theoretical work.
• Experience with at least one programming language.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to take initiative and work well as part of a team.
• An interest in quantum computing.
