As part of the Valley Water community, you get an insider's perspective on the way we work and the impact we are able to make. The Summer 2025 Internship Program will provide interns with training and experience leveraging collaboration tools while either working on-site or hybrid. Summer Interns will be given one-on-one mentorship, professional development training and an hourly pay of $26.31. At the end of the program interns are to prepare and present a Capstone presentation to share their experience and achievements.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in biweekly learning sessions held every other Friday alongside fellow interns, focusing on elevating career readiness and cultivating professional development skills.
  • Support planning staff by researching various environmental topics, especially those related to regulatory compliance, and reviewing plans for proposed Valley Water projects.
  • Prepare environmental documentation to analyze a project's potential impact as it relates to several issue areas, such as air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, hydrology, and land use.
  • Participate in meetings with staff from across the agency to coordinate with project teams, determine the necessary steps to obtain environmental compliance and receive feedback on deliverables.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a major in planning, environmental science/studies, natural resource management, environmental policy, or a related field.
  • Interested in understanding how CEQA, the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and other environmental laws are applied to regulate proposed developments and protect natural resources.
  • Comfortable synthesizing data and information from a variety of sources and capable of writing about technical subjects.
  • Have a passion and desire for a future career in environmental protection, sustainability, or stewardship.
  • Open to undergraduate & graduate students who are third year and above enrolled in a college/university for Fall 2025.
  • Can work full-time (40 hours/week) during the Summer Internship Program.
