About the position

The Superintendent at Structure Tone is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing healthcare construction projects in New Jersey. This position requires a strong focus on timely and cost-effective field coordination, quality control, and the day-to-day supervision of subcontracted workforces. The Superintendent will prepare and maintain project schedules, ensuring that reports accurately reflect the project's status. Regular communication with the Project Manager and client representatives is essential, especially for large projects that may involve multiple Superintendents. Safety is a top priority, and the Superintendent must ensure that all safety standards and requirements are implemented and adhered to by all personnel operating tools and equipment. This role also involves directing subcontractor activities within ground-up construction projects, analyzing manpower, material, and equipment requirements, and coordinating these needs with other designated supervisors. The Superintendent will enforce policies, procedures, and work rules established by field construction management, preparing necessary reports and forecasts to keep supervisors informed of overall progress. Additionally, the Superintendent will coordinate Lock-out Tag-out procedures with responsible subcontractors for utilities such as Nitrogen, Vacuum, Compressed Air, RODI, and Steam, while managing Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) and ensuring compliance with client engineering specifications or requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the project schedule and maintains reports accurately describing project status.
  • Responsible for timely and cost-effective field coordination, quality control, and day-to-day supervision of subcontracted workforces for construction projects.
  • Reviews status and project progress with the Project Manager and client representatives on a regular basis.
  • Ensures safety standards and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craftsmen and others when operating tools and equipment.
  • Directs subcontractor activities within ground-up construction projects.
  • Analyzes manpower, material, and equipment requirements, interfacing these requirements with others as designated by the supervising superintendent.
  • Implements and enforces policies, procedures, and related work rules as established by field construction management.
  • Prepares reports and forecasts as required, keeping supervisors informed on the progress of overall assigned activities.
  • Coordinates Lock-out Tag-out with responsible subcontractors of utilities such as Nitrogen, Vacuum, Compressed Air, RODI, and Steam.
  • Manages QA/QC and understands client engineering specifications or requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of field experience in construction.
  • Experience should include some supervisory responsibility as a General Foreman, Field Engineer, or Assistant Superintendent.
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, organizational, and teamwork skills are required.
