About the position

The Superintendent, Parts and Inventory is responsible for overseeing the procurement, purchasing, storage, distribution, and security of parts, supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for vehicle and facilities maintenance at Capital Metro. This role ensures that inventory levels are maintained to support uninterrupted maintenance and repair activities, while also implementing best practices in inventory management and supervising department personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans and objectives for the delivery and availability of parts, materials, and supplies.
  • Supervise the control and security of parts, supplies, and materials to minimize storage costs and prevent stock-outs.
  • Maintain an inventory of all parts, supplies, and materials for management and fiscal audits.
  • Research and establish best practices for computer-aided inventory management.
  • Recommend and develop changes to policies and procedures to improve operational performance.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for staff on service delivery and accountability.
  • Maintain up-to-date techniques and equipment for inventory control.
  • Support efforts to resolve customer concerns regarding inventory shortages and assist in training program development.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and be available 24/7 as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Material Control, Computer Science, or a related area (related experience may substitute for education).
  • Six (6) years of work experience in parts acquisition or inventory control, specifically with vehicle parts.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in vehicle maintenance or parts and inventory staff in a bargaining unit environment.
  • Experience with computerized inventory control systems and transit vehicle parts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Comprehensive knowledge of materials control and applicable computer hardware and software systems.
  • Technical knowledge of vendors, service contractors, manufacturers, and carriers in the vehicle parts industry.
