About the position

Charah Solutions is the leading provider of environmental services and byproduct sales to the power generation industry. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, we assist utilities and independent power producers in sustainably managing and recycling ash byproducts generated from the combustion of coal in the production of electricity. With over 30 years of experience, we also design and implement solutions for ash pond management and closure, landfill construction, fly ash sales, and structural fill projects. This position is responsible for managing a construction crew, equipment and materials on a large and/or complex project in accordance with construction designs, plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews; driving production, ensuring quality, and upholding customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying improvements.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing Charah safety standards and procedures; complying with, and enforcing, OSHA, MSHA and DOT codes and regulations.
  • Understand construction drawings, specifications, permits and layouts.
  • Understands and adheres to project budget specifications, project schedules and production demands.
  • Accomplishes construction human resource objectives by selecting, training, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning; executing; monitoring/controlling, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Assists with managing sub-contractors; evaluating and monitoring their performance.
  • Ability to operate Heavy Equipment is imperative in training and evaluating performance.
  • Ability to act independently and to originate new procedures and new approaches to problems.
  • Ability to maintain initiative to maintain the flow of work.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a Construction Foreman or Superintendent role required.
  • Knowledge of Trimble GPS required.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Previous work-related skill, knowledge, and/or experience are required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Project Management Certification or equivalent may be required based on the scope of the project managed.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
