About the position

Structure Tone is seeking a Superintendent to support our construction projects based in Philadelphia, PA. The Superintendent plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective coordination of field operations, quality control, and day-to-day supervision of subcontracted workforces. This position requires a proactive approach to managing construction activities, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely. The Superintendent will be responsible for preparing the project schedule and maintaining accurate reports that describe the project's status. Regular reviews of project progress with the Project Manager and client representatives are essential to ensure alignment and address any issues that may arise. In addition to overseeing subcontractor activities on ground-up construction projects, the Superintendent will analyze manpower, material, and equipment requirements, coordinating these needs with other designated personnel. Implementing and enforcing established policies, procedures, and work rules is a key responsibility, as is ensuring that safety standards are adhered to by all craftsmen and personnel operating tools and equipment. The Superintendent will also manage quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes, ensuring compliance with client engineering specifications and requirements. This role is vital in maintaining a safe and productive work environment while driving project success through effective leadership and communication. The Superintendent will coordinate lock-out tag-out procedures with responsible subcontractors for utilities such as Nitrogen, Vacuum, Compressed Air, RODI, and Steam, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and quality, as well as the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of construction professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the project schedule and maintains reports accurately describing project status.
  • Responsible for timely and cost-effective field coordination, quality control, and day-to-day supervision of subcontracted workforces for construction projects.
  • Reviews status and project progress with the Project Manager and client representatives on a regular basis.
  • Directs subcontractor activities within ground-up construction projects.
  • Analyzes manpower, material, and equipment requirements, interfacing these requirements with others as designated by the supervising superintendent.
  • Implements and enforces policies, procedures, and related work rules as established by field construction management.
  • Prepares reports and forecasts as required, keeping supervisors informed on the progress of overall assigned activities.
  • Ensures safety standards and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craftsmen and others when operating tools and equipment.
  • Coordinates lock-out tag-out with responsible subcontractors of utilities such as Nitrogen, Vacuum, Compressed Air, RODI, and Steam.
  • Manages QA/QC and understands client engineering specifications or requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of field experience in construction.
  • Experience should include some supervisory responsibility as a General Foreman, Field Engineer, or Assistant Superintendent.
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, organizational, and teamwork skills are required.
