About the position

As a Supervisor of Aircraft Records at American Airlines, you will play a crucial role in the Aircraft Records Team within the Integrated Operations Division. This position is responsible for providing both technical and administrative oversight for a specialized working group focused on aircraft data management. You will define the organization's technical direction and objectives while providing the necessary tools and methods to ensure success. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a culture of accountability, ensuring that the team meets its stated goals and objectives. In this role, you will oversee the training, development, and performance improvement of your team members. You will participate in the development and maintenance of the group budget for each fiscal year, ensuring that financial resources are allocated effectively. Periodic performance evaluations and discussions with team members will be part of your responsibilities, aimed at assisting in their professional development. You will also administer company rules and policies as required, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement in departmental processes, procedures, and efficiencies. Your role will involve developing tools and metrics to help manage the business effectively, as well as project management to meet departmental and company goals and strategies. Additionally, you will serve as a liaison to the FAA as required, ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met and maintained. Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight of the organization for training, development and performance improvement
  • Creates a culture of accountability to ensure the team achieves the stated goals
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of the group budget for each budget year
  • Accomplishes periodic performance evaluations and employee discussions aimed at assisting the team member's development
  • Administers Company rules and policies as required by the organization
  • Ensures continuous improvement in department processes, procedures and efficiencies
  • Develops tools and metrics to help manage the business
  • Project management to meet department and company goals and strategies
  • Serves as a liaison to the FAA as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation or similar discipline and/or a total of 5 years aviation experience in the Aircraft Maintenance field as it relates to Quality Assurance, Maintenance, or Records
  • FAA Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT / A&P License)
  • FCC GROL (General Radiotelephone Operators License - Avionics)
  • Experience working in the SCEPTRE system
  • Thorough understanding of AA Policies and Procedures
  • Yellow Belt or higher in Lean/Six Sigma principles from an accredited organization
  • Understanding of project management techniques
  • Basic understanding of computer system functions, architecture and attributes
  • 5 years of experience in complementary role leading people
  • 5 years of experience in commercial aviation

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical field, or field associated with the job function
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills; high level of attention to detail; outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple duties/priorities on a daily basis; ability to function effectively under deadlines and still maintain accuracy; able to keep up in a fast-paced work environment
  • Computer literate, knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
