About the position

The Safety Supervisor - Airport Operations at United Airlines is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering the Airport Operations Safety program at the station. The role focuses on reducing occupational injuries, minimizing aircraft and equipment damage, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The supervisor will provide oversight and guidance to front-line leaders and coworkers, fostering a safety culture and supporting safety initiatives across the airport operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and administer the station Airport Operations Safety program.
  • Reduce occupational injuries and minimize aircraft and equipment damage.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and provide oversight to front-line leaders.
  • Complete all regulatory and company-required documentation of activities.
  • Attend, support, and lead division/unit/group safety meetings.
  • Participate in collateral safety projects and ensure front-line coworkers meet service and safety objectives.
  • Lead all aspects of the station safety advocates and Line Operation Safety Audit (LOSA) team.
  • Act as a liaison with Flight Ops, In Flight, and Tech Ops safety teams.
  • Engage front-line coworkers to foster a safety culture and set expectations for compliance with company guidelines.
  • Conduct trend analyses and review key metrics to address safety issues.
  • Support and promote the Ground Safety Action Program (GSAP) and provide technical guidance to employees.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years' experience working in an airline operational capacity or similar experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in preparing written and verbal communications.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Aviation and/or OSHA regulations.
  • Flexibility to work any shift within a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and/or Occupational Safety or 5+ years' experience in safety.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and decision making in a unionized work environment.
  • Formal cause analysis or investigation training.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification.
