About the position

The Supervisor, Automation Controls position involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of automation systems at Canaveral Port Authority. This role requires a combination of supervisory skills and technical expertise in automation trades, ensuring that systems remain operational and functional. The supervisor will coordinate work orders, manage staff, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards while providing training and support to team members.

Responsibilities

• Determine and schedule work orders by priority to maintain operational automation systems.
• Plan, coordinate, organize, assign, and supervise the work of employees in automation and facilities maintenance.
• Monitor contracts and contractor work for preventative and facilities maintenance services.
• Check project progress for conformance to work orders and maintenance plans.
• Hire contractors and manage purchase orders for work on Port property.
• Ensure proper training of employees in automation operation and maintenance, adhering to safety standards.
• Perform daily on-site supervision and inspection of work crews.
• Supervise and train others in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Troubleshoot maintenance and operation issues with automation systems.
• Respond to emergency conditions as an essential employee, performing recovery operations outside normal hours.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent, with some college preferred.
• Four years of experience in automation systems and maintenance, including three years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in trade disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, or HVAC is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, CMMS, and email.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Journeyman certification in an associated field preferred.
