About the position

The Supervisor of Baggage Operations at Envoy Air is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the baggage handling department, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with company policies. This role involves direct communication with team members and other departments, providing necessary resources and training, and managing operational performance to meet profitability and cost control goals.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates department activities to ensure a safe and effective operation.
  • Communicates with managers, peers, and team members to administer company policies and procedures.
  • Provides tools, resources, and training to the team to meet operational performance goals.
  • Reviews and analyzes reports and confers with supervisors for planning department activities.
  • Assigns responsibilities and disseminates policy to supervisors.
  • Gives work directions, resolves problems, and sets deadlines for timely completion of work.
  • Resolves operational problems during peak or irregular periods.
  • Generates and implements quality improvement ideas.
  • Responsible for meeting profitability and cost control goals; develops and monitors budget and spending.
  • Coordinates activities of the ramp service team with other departments for efficiency.
  • Evaluates current procedures and implements improved practices for ramp service objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and government requirements during operations.
  • Investigates discrepancies and compiles statistical data for compliance purposes.
  • Coaches and counsels personnel on ramp service and performance issues.
  • Encourages teamwork to generate and implement ideas.
  • Coordinates scheduling, hiring, and training activities.
  • Evaluates team performance through quality control measurements.

Requirements

  • Minimum age: 18
  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • Valid, unexpired driver's license
  • Previous experience in a team lead, supervisory, or managerial capacity
  • Work experience in an airport operations environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and PC skills
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, and weekends
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Legal right to work in the United States
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Previous ramp operational experience preferred
  • Experience managing various workgroups preferred
