About the position

The Supervisor, Damage Prevention Liaison at MISS DIG 811 is responsible for providing supervisory leadership to the Damage Prevention Liaison team across Michigan. This role focuses on enhancing educational initiatives, promoting safety, and reducing underground utility damage through effective communication and relationship-building with stakeholders. The position requires significant travel within the state to support excavators and facility owners, making it crucial for the candidate to have a strong background in utility damage prevention and excavation safety.

Responsibilities

  • Educating and training stakeholders on the use of 811 through presentations to various audiences, both virtually and in-person.
  • Building positive relationships with excavators, locators, utility owners/operators, public safety agencies, and government officials.
  • Visiting job sites to evaluate and obtain feedback on MISS DIG 811's systems and processes.
  • Providing proactive outreach to members in the district and obtaining updated contact information regularly.
  • Participating in trade shows, conferences, community festivals, safety meetings, and other relevant events to promote MISS DIG 811.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to create regional damage prevention associations.
  • Driving results through metrics and damage data.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Public Act 174 of 2013.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to engage and persuade stakeholders.
  • Comfortable speaking to large and diverse audiences.
  • Alignment with core values of Trust, Safety, Service, Collaboration, and Commitment to Excellence.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in utilities, locating, excavation, marketing, or public relations is a plus.
  • A clean driving record demonstrating responsibility in operating a motor vehicle.
  • Strong analytical and technological skills in damage prevention and reporting programs, including Microsoft Office 365, Ticket Management Systems, and Mobile Applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
