About the position

The Supervisor of the Digital/Screening Department at Universal Products, Inc. is responsible for overseeing all activities related to the screening process, ensuring that production schedules are met while maintaining quality and safety standards. This role involves coordinating with various departments, managing personnel, and implementing improvements in production methods and equipment performance.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect printed products to verify conformance to specifications and direct set up and adjustment of equipment.
  • Review production schedules and estimate time required to complete printing jobs.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies, safety and health regulations, and hazardous waste regulations.
  • Review job orders and assign jobs to department personnel.
  • Establish or adjust work hours to meet production schedules.
  • Inspect and approve press set-ups, monitoring press operations including color matching, registration, and print quality.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and print quality.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, assisting subordinates in solving work problems.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve established goals.
  • Maintain timekeeping system on employees.
  • Maintain production records.
  • Confer with department supervisors or lead persons to coordinate activities of the departments involved.
  • Perform duties of workers supervised when necessary.
  • Interview, hire, and train employees.
  • Complete written performance appraisals and meet with employees to suggest areas needing improvement and acknowledge areas where employee is achieving or exceeding objectives.
  • Recommend wage adjustments.
  • Administer disciplinary action, when necessary, with the cooperation of the Production Manager.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Be familiar with and apply all aspects of the ISO Quality System that pertains to the Screen-Printing Department.
  • Provide leadership and direction in meeting safety/health and environmental goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of screen printing processes and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret production schedules and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations, including hazardous waste management.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience with performance appraisals and employee training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with ISO Quality Systems and standards.
  • Experience in the printing industry specifically related to digital and screen printing.
