About the position

The Supervisor Development Program is a 6-month leadership initiative aimed at preparing candidates for a successful career as Electric Operations Supervisors. This program combines instructor-led leadership and technical training, allowing participants to immerse themselves in supervisory roles while gaining valuable experience in electric operations. Candidates will enhance their skills through rotations in various service territories, focusing on the safe and efficient operation of electric distribution and transmission systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of union-represented trade employees.
  • Ensure the safe, timely, and efficient completion of work efforts related to the construction, operation, maintenance, and emergency restoration of electric systems.
  • Promote and enforce a safety-first work environment and positive safety culture.
  • Supervise crews in construction and maintenance activities for T&D substations.
  • Set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback to employees regarding their performance.
  • Conduct comprehensive performance reviews and address performance issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with employees and other departments to resolve customer issues promptly.
  • Fulfill storm duty assignments and participate in on-call rotation as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, telecommunication engineering, or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.
  • Three or more years of related experience is required, preferably in electrical transmission and distribution.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle License is required; D.O.T. Driver's License preferred.
  • Working knowledge of methods, work practices, and procedures regarding the safe construction, operation, and maintenance of electric T&D facilities is strongly desired.
