About the position
The Supervisor EMS Dispatch is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dispatch center, ensuring efficient communication and coordination of emergency and non-emergency medical transports. This role involves supervising staff, managing schedules, and maintaining equipment readiness while providing training for new hires and ongoing education for existing staff. The position requires interaction with hospital staff and other agencies to develop dispatch protocols and ensure a positive public image.
Responsibilities
- Dispatches ambulances on a priority basis to emergency, non-emergency, and routine medical transports.
- Supervises the daily operations of the dispatch center and provides training for new hires and ongoing education.
- Manages staff scheduling and payroll.
- Ensures proper utilization of vehicular resources for prompt service completion.
- Maintains a positive public image and appropriate communication with all staff.
- Checks all equipment at the beginning of each shift to ensure readiness and cleanliness.
- Reports deficiencies in equipment and ensures safe operation of all equipment.
- Receives and enters call and patient information into the database accurately.
- Maintains proficiency in required computer systems and checks information devices routinely during shifts.
- Treats all patients and callers compassionately and reverently, regardless of their situation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
- American Heart Association BLS Certification.
- NAEMD (National Association of Emergency Medical Dispatch) Certification within 6 months of employment.
