About the position

The Supervisor of Engineering Services will lead a team of Civil Engineers, Design Engineers, and Design Drafters to support civil engineering and construction for substation projects within the northern half of the service territory. This role emphasizes accountability, safety, and quality work while managing resources and promoting teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a civil engineering team that supports substation projects throughout the designated service territory.
  • Promote accountability through recognition, coaching, training, and development.
  • Encourage teamwork, commitment, and quality work products while adhering to the ESC contract.
  • Manage bargain unit employees and ensure safety by conducting safety tailboards in group meetings.
  • Participate in key project meetings and provide technical expertise as needed.
  • Forecast work and match it with appropriate short and long-term resource plans.
  • Support resource needs for Environmental Services (SPCC) and Civil Standards development.
  • Assign individual and team projects to balance project requirements with resource availability.
  • Track schedule and cost performance, ensuring delivery of high-quality civil engineering products.
  • Provide support and solicit feedback from other departments regarding all civil aspects of the projects.
  • Plan for internal civil workload and recommend workload to be contracted.
  • Support contract work through careful drawing control and design quality as required.
  • Recommend process changes to improve civil design productivity, quality, and customer focus.
  • Stay abreast of applicable civil standards and requirements.
  • Track actual vs. estimated costs and schedules, improve productivity, and use Change Orders effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent working experience.
  • 5 years of experience in engineering, with some experience in electric substation and transmission line engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Leadership experience
  • PE-Professional Engineer license
  • Experience in transmission or substation engineering, design, or construction
  • Familiarity with PG&E standards and design processes
  • Familiarity with contracting process
  • Familiarity with ESC, Local 20 Labor contract
  • Experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
