About the position
The Fabricating Supervisor at Packaging Corporation of America is responsible for overseeing the operations of machines and personnel involved in finishing activities such as folding, gluing, waxing, stripping, and bundling. This role requires effective management of shift activities to ensure efficiency and safety, while also focusing on employee development and maintaining a clean work environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate activity with the Production Manager and Shift Supervisor to manage shift work orders and ensure quality requirements.
- Schedule work and coordinate production activities while providing direct oversight of employees.
- Approve time records and communicate company policy to the team.
- Engage in employee development activities and make recommendations on hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.
- Conduct ongoing employee training on equipment, protocols, production standards, safety regulations, and waste control.
- Ensure departmental operations align with continuous improvement policies.
- Supervise the efficient operation of equipment and inspect materials, products, and equipment to prevent malfunctions.
- Analyze fabricating performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and execute strategies to enhance processes and equipment.
- Participate in production meetings and provide necessary updates.
- Verify job quality and investigate customer complaints regarding finishing quality.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of corrugated manufacturing experience.
- Ability to work flexible hours when needed.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Nice-to-haves
- Some college or manufacturing training.
- Previous supervisory experience with training, team building, performance development, and conflict resolution.
