About the position

The Supervisor, Field Customer Service role is responsible for overseeing employees engaged in field customer service activities. This position involves directing daily operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing assistance to various stakeholders, including customers and local officials. The supervisor will also investigate incidents related to gas services and conduct safety training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises employees performing field customer service work.
  • Directs employees in daily operations of field customer service activities including prioritizing orders and scheduling workforce.
  • Handles turn-ons and turn-offs of gas services.
  • Manages meter changes and gas leakage detection.
  • Addresses working outages and assists customers with inquiries.
  • Advises customers, contractors, and officials on code interpretation and compliance, pipe sizing, and venting requirements.
  • Investigates major incidents involving gas, such as leaks and explosions, and assists local fire officials with investigations.
  • Conducts safety meetings and training sessions for employees.
  • Compiles and verifies customer service summaries, accident reports, and employee documentation.
  • Gathers data on technician and contractor production and prepares customer correspondence.

Requirements

  • 5 - 7 years of experience performing customer service field functions.
  • Working knowledge of company and governmental operating/safety policies and procedures related to customer service activities.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze incidents involving customer complaints and safety issues.
  • Experience with tools and equipment applicable to the position, including computers.
  • Basic math skills for operational tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, especially in emergency situations.
  • Experience in advising, training, and communicating effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop information and make presentations.
  • Experience in researching, composing, and compiling reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information, including regulations and manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead work assignments.
