About the position

The Supervisor of Flight Simulator Maintenance at United Airlines is responsible for overseeing the maintenance activities of flight training devices at the Flight Training Center in Denver, Colorado. This role involves coordinating maintenance tasks, managing employee schedules, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, and maintaining high training performance standards. The supervisor will also interface with various stakeholders, including union representatives, to resolve issues and ensure operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, assign, track, and evaluate all maintenance activities on training devices.
  • Monitor parts usage and requests to ensure optimal maintenance and financial practices.
  • Ensure flight simulator training devices maintain acceptable training performance levels.
  • Manage employee attendance and scheduling for employees under a collective bargaining agreement.
  • Oversee overtime management based on work requirements.
  • Interface with flight simulator training device manufacturers for issue resolution.
  • Apply collective bargaining agreement work rules and mitigate employee issues in collaboration with HR.
  • Review work assignments with lead technicians to ensure corrective actions are taken based on training impact.
  • Ensure daily compliance with FAA 14 CFR Part 60 and SQMS regulations.
  • Monitor simulator readiness for annual Continuing Qualification evaluations.
  • Analyze performance metrics and coordinate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Monitor discrepancies and report MMI issues as required.
  • Ensure completion of preventative maintenance actions and FAA QTG tests within required time frames.
  • Communicate with fleet users to gather feedback on maintenance actions and performance reliability.
  • Attend monthly meetings with Engineering, Maintenance, and Fleet users to provide oversight and feedback on issue resolutions.
  • Counsel employees on job performance and attendance issues, resolving workplace conflicts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.
  • Three years of experience supervising or working as a Flight Simulator Technician or Engineer required.
  • Working knowledge of Flight Simulator Training Device qualifications, maintenance, and operational requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office Visio and Project preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising employees covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement preferred.
