About the position

The Supervisor Guest and Volunteer Services is responsible for overseeing the guest services and volunteer programs at Kootenai Health. This role focuses on providing exceptional customer service to patients and their families while managing the activities of hospital volunteers and guest services associates. The supervisor ensures smooth operations, coordinates volunteer training, and fosters community engagement with the volunteer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs the work of guest services associates
  • Assists patients and their families/guest(s) with a commitment to exceptional service
  • Recruits and completes initial screening of volunteers, orients new volunteers and arranges for training
  • Conducts outreach to increase community awareness of volunteer programs
  • Processes incoming volunteers to ensure they meet hospital requirements and monitors for ongoing compliance
  • Identifies departmental needs for volunteers, matches volunteers with suitable projects based on their skills, and schedules volunteers accordingly
  • Organizes and coordinates impactful volunteer appreciation events
  • Provides administrative support including scheduling, maintaining records, ordering office supplies, and generating comprehensive reports
  • Delivers office support as required, ensuring smooth operations
  • Performs quarterly check-ins and annual performance evaluations with team, coaching and training as indicated
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required; 2 years related experience may be accepted in lieu of an associate's degree
  • 5 years of customer service experience required in addition to education requirement
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to maintain complete confidentiality and sophistication in social and professional settings
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with strong presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • MOAB training, or must acquire within 6 months of employment, required
  • BLS required
