About the position

The Supervisor, Intake Navigation position at MD Anderson Cancer Center is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Intake Nurse Navigators. This role involves leading and coaching the navigator team to ensure exceptional service delivery to patients and providers, managing patient interactions, and facilitating access to quality medical care. The supervisor collaborates closely with clinical leaders and care teams to coordinate patient care plans and address barriers to healthcare access throughout the cancer care continuum.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day oversight to Intake Nurse Navigators.
  • Lead and coach the navigator team to deliver exceptional services to patients and providers.
  • Conduct record reviews and assess barriers to care for new patients.
  • Manage new patient calls and in-basket messages.
  • Offer education and resources to navigators to promote informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Access Manager and Navigation Program Director to update processes and technology for the Oncology Navigation Program.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report key navigation metrics in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and track employee performance and staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Communicate and operationalize the vision for a customer-focused employee culture.
  • Assist in patient assignments to intake navigators after referral review.
  • Facilitate technology exploration and oversee technology installation and implementation.
  • Participate in institutional committees to develop scalable solutions for operational issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Five years of professional oncology nursing or oncology nurse navigation experience, including two years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
