About the position

The Supervisor Maintenance - Electrical Instrumentation at Freeport-McMoRan is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit within the Miami smelter and rod plant. This role involves supervising staff, implementing production plans, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to manage maintenance operations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, coordinates, and controls the operation of an assigned work unit.
  • Assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff for the assigned work unit.
  • Implements production plans according to the approved schedule.
  • Participates in daily operational duties, performing the most difficult tasks as needed.
  • Inspects and evaluates work in progress, identifying problem areas and directing remedial action.
  • Conducts performance evaluations on subordinate staff.
  • Prepares estimates of staffing, materials, and equipment requirements for projected work activities.
  • Maintains an inventory of parts and materials and approves purchases of materials and equipment.
  • Maintains time, materials, and equipment use reports; requisitions tools, supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Trains staff in safety procedures and maintains safety data sheets for crews.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and five years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in a technical mining-related discipline with at least one summer internship experience in a mining or industrial environment, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • 4 year accredited apprenticeship in the electrical, instrumentation, and process control trades or equivalent (preferred).
  • 7 years' experience in industrial plant maintenance or construction (preferred).
  • Previous experience supervising crews, managing crew safety, and scheduling work (preferred).
  • Experience in utilizing Microsoft Office & Windows.
  • Experience utilizing PLC or DCS systems in industrial processes.
  • Experience with medium/high voltage power systems.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostics utilizing test equipment, drawings, & manufacturer manuals.
  • Ability to evaluate risks and drive safe company work practices.
  • Current NFPA 70E certification.
