About the position

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees a team responsible for maintaining the plant's equipment, buildings, and facilities. This role involves providing technical expertise in maintenance, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic engineering, while ensuring adherence to maintenance schedules under the direction of the Plant Engineer. The supervisor is also responsible for mentoring team members and optimizing their performance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance, electric, and hydraulic work teams, providing engineering support.
  • Mentor and motivate associates, offering training and development opportunities.
  • Communicate performance standards and recognize individual and team accomplishments.
  • Analyze mechanical and operational problems, planning and implementing corrective actions.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance checks and inspections to avoid production disruptions.
  • Record causes of production delays and maintain operational reports for management.
  • Ensure plant facilities and grounds comply with regulations and standards.
  • Assist in preparing equipment bids and represent the company with contractors and vendors.
  • Coordinate plant safety inspections and implement solutions for safety deficiencies.
  • Assist in developing maintenance and safety policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to annual budget preparation related to maintenance and safety.
  • Direct the machine parts storeroom operation in smaller facilities, if applicable.
  • Stay updated on manufacturing technologies and engineering concepts.
  • Collaborate with Process Improvement Teams on team charters.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED; HVAC licensing required; BA/BS in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and safety management.
  • Working knowledge of FA regulations, GMP, sanitation processes, and HACCP.
  • Ability to direct, coach, and train associates, and plan and schedule work effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude, including equipment disassembly and reassembly.
  • Ability to understand complex mathematical equations and proficient in Excel or similar software.

  • Experience in food manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety regulations.
