Responsibilities

  • Direct and coach a small team of employees, providing frequent feedback and direction.
  • Conduct quarterly performance dialogues and manage hiring and termination processes.
  • Gather and utilize various data to design 3-D mine plans and mining/stripping schedules.
  • Develop and communicate reserve estimates and mine reclamation plans.
  • Provide functional and technical support for effective management of land and leasehold assets.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects to address business opportunities or challenges.
  • Gather, review, analyze, and document site-specific land use information.
  • Secure land-use entitlements and monitor compliance with operating permits.
  • Oversee consultant work for permitting and mine engineering projects.
  • Generate and maintain updated life-of-mine site plans and maps.
  • Verify accuracy of legal descriptions of properties and resolve ownership disputes.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations, documentation, reports, and maps.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in operations.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or associated technical field such as Geology, Geological Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
  • 5 years or more of mining engineering, geology, land management, permitting or operations experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the aggregate mining industry is helpful, but not required.
  • Solid knowledge of mining engineering and geologic concepts.
  • Ability to create mine plans, compute stone reserves, and interpret geologic data.
  • Proficiency in 3D-CAD design, Excel, and other pertinent software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in supervising employees.
  • PE/CPG certification preferred, but not required.
  • Basic surveying knowledge.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS.
