About the position

The Supervisor of Oncology Nursing at UT Southwestern is responsible for overseeing nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in an oncology setting. This role involves operational management, staff supervision, and the development of patient care standards, with a focus on teamwork and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and teaches specialized knowledge and skills necessary for oncology nursing techniques and routines.
• Provides operational management of daily patient care services in the oncology department.
• Assesses, monitors, and evaluates systems for the delivery of care to oncology patients.
• Assists in the development of patient care standards of practice and personnel performance.
• Designs, executes, and delivers effective internal controls in compliance with laws and regulations.
• Facilitates teamwork through planned group processes such as workshops and staff meetings.
• Supervises nursing staff and non-licensed medical or office support personnel.
• May provide direct patient care as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.
• 5 years of general nursing experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited provider upon hire.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with oncology patients and chemotherapy administration.
• Experience in an outpatient setting.
