About the position

The Supervisor Patient Care Services RN at Allina Health is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, providing educational support, and serving as a communication liaison within the nursing team. This role involves supervising staff, managing patient care activities, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations while promoting quality improvement and optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and evaluates employee performance.
  • Assists with recruitment and hiring for positions.
  • Onboards, orients, and provides ongoing coaching, mentoring, and support to staff.
  • Models and teaches nursing skills to others.
  • Manages staff assignments and productivity.
  • Establishes clear expectations and deliverables for staff.
  • Supports charge nurse and staff to provide coverage based on unit census and patient acuity.
  • Conducts annual evaluations and necessary corrective actions for assigned staff.
  • Maintains open communication with the Patient Care Manager regarding unit personnel development and performance.
  • Educates staff on new/changed regulations, policies, and compliance procedures.
  • Adheres to compliance regulations and workplace safety procedures.
  • Coordinates nursing care to patients in line with unit philosophy and goals.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care delivery systems.
  • Supports the charge nurse in making assignments considering patient acuity and staff competence.
  • Establishes processes for equipment function and maintenance.
  • Acts as a role model for clinical professional practice.
  • Assures optimal clinical outcomes through staff competency and education programs.
  • Collaborates with preceptors to coordinate unit-based orientation and education programs.
  • Facilitates quality improvement activities and integrates findings into practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or an Associate's/Vocational degree in nursing with related Bachelor's degree or active enrollment in a BSN/BAN program.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in inpatient hospital nursing.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required.
  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required.
  • ACLS required for identified units per hiring manager.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in clinical specialty preferred.
