About the position

The Supervisor, Production and Data Center Operations at UC Irvine is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the data center facilities, ensuring the smooth functioning of production workloads and processes. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the data center facilities.
  • Ensure the smooth functioning of production workloads and processes.
  • Direct subordinates and student staff to complete assignments.
  • Prioritize tasks and assignments delegated by management and clients.
  • Establish procedural methods and policies for routine services.
  • Monitor systems to maintain efficiency, security, and reliability of the data center.
  • Provide support to the production team to ensure seamless operations.

Requirements

  • Broad knowledge of various areas of IT.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of system management actions and their effects.
  • Working knowledge of computer security tools and best practices.
  • Experience in supervision and management of students and employees in a university environment.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and determine their source (hardware, operating system, or software).
  • Solid knowledge of applications programming development function.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of automation and scheduling tools, such as Zena and Jenkins.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management tools such as DCIM and ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing operations in an information technology organization.
