About the position

As a Supervisor in the Stores team at American Airlines, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our new Central Fulfillment Center. This facility is equipped with a customized Warehouse Management System, an automated storage and retrieval system, and autonomous material handling equipment, all designed to enhance our Technical Operations Supply Chain. Your primary responsibility will be to supervise a unionized workforce engaged in the management of aircraft parts and tooling, which includes shipping, receiving, inventorying, and the movement of company materials. You will oversee all Stores personnel assigned to this operation, ensuring that the workflow is efficient and compliant with company policies and safety regulations. In this role, you will be tasked with assigning job responsibilities to frontline team members across various occupations. You will coordinate with Technical Operations and Supply Chain partners to monitor the status of material requests, manage administrative duties within the Supply department, and interpret company policies to enforce safety regulations. Additionally, you will be responsible for recommending or initiating personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures. Maintaining time and attendance records, personnel files, and performance records will also be part of your duties, along with ensuring audit compliance and maintaining an orderly warehouse and supply locations. Regularly scheduled crew briefings will be a key part of your role, where you will communicate department policy and procedural changes to your team. This position requires a proactive approach to leadership and a commitment to fostering a safe and productive work environment. You will need to be adaptable, as management may modify job responsibilities or require additional tasks as necessary, while adhering to legal obligations and collective bargaining agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assign job responsibilities to the frontline team in one or more occupations.
  • Coordinate with TechOps and Supply Chain partners on the status of material requests.
  • Manage all administrative duties within the Supply department.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
  • Maintain time and attendance records as well as personnel files and performance records.
  • Ensure audit compliance and maintain warehouse and supply locations assigned.
  • Lead regularly scheduled crew briefings to communicate department policy and procedural changes.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience in supply chain or logistics.
  • Extensive Supply Chain experience in Automotive, Aviation, or Electrical Industries.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer systems used by frontline members.
  • Ability to quickly grasp various Collective Bargaining Agreement language and apply it to various situations.
  • Knowledge of shipping limitations as outlined in the IATA and 49 CFR.
  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work all shifts, 24/7, including holidays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Logistics or equivalent experience/training.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Extensive Supply Chain or Logistics experience.
