About the position

The Supervisor - Virtual Platforms at Westinghouse is a pivotal role that involves leading the Virtual Engineering teams to support the company's mission of providing clean energy solutions. This position reports directly to the Manager of Platform Services and encompasses both operational and tactical responsibilities. The supervisor will oversee the implementation, support, and development of virtualization environments, ensuring that the teams meet project commitments and resource assignments effectively. This role is not just supervisory; it also requires hands-on technical work, making it essential for the supervisor to be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the team. In this role, the supervisor will conduct quarterly reviews of direct reports, manage small to medium-sized projects, and serve as an escalation point for priority incidents. The supervisor will also be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex issues, providing second-level support to engineers, and assisting in the operational maintenance of VMWare and Citrix environments. Additionally, the supervisor will play a key role in implementing automation where possible, ensuring that team documentation is current, and coaching team members in best practices. Ensuring redundancy and disaster recovery configurations are in place is also a critical aspect of this position, along with performing any other related duties as prioritized by the Platform Services Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising global virtual implementation covering the implementation, support, and development of virtualization environments.
  • Performing quarterly reviews of direct reports.
  • Managing small to medium-sized projects.
  • Assisting in the management of the associated ServiceNow queues.
  • Acting as an escalation point in response to priority incidents.
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex issues, providing second-level support to engineers.
  • Assisting in the operational maintenance and support of VMWare and Citrix environments.
  • Implementing automation where possible.
  • Ensuring team documentation is up to date and coaching the team in documentation practices.
  • Ensuring redundancy and disaster recovery configurations are in place and coaching the team as needed.
  • Performing any other related duties prioritized by the Platform Services Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • High level expertise or subject matter expert in VMWare and Citrix.
  • Experience in a complex, global engineering and manufacturing organization.
  • Demonstrated success in leading large, global Infrastructure teams.
  • Experience in project managing small to mid-sized projects.
  • Experience delivering highly complex, global programs and projects.
  • 7+ years' experience in hands-on support and troubleshooting of Infrastructure Services.
  • 3+ years' experience successfully leading geographically diverse technical teams.
