About the position

The Supervisory Administrative Officer at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing administrative support to the Primary Care Service. This position involves overseeing daily operations, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with VA standards while contributing to program planning and policy development.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, considering the difficulty of work and capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates and provide advice, counsel, or instructions on work and administrative matters.
  • Interview candidates for subordinate positions and recommend appointments, promotions, and reassignments.
  • Resolve complaints and refer serious grievances to a higher level.
  • Manage day-to-day administrative operations and budgetary activities related to the assigned Service.
  • Ensure programmatic, systemic, and financial objectives of the Service are met.
  • Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of public relations and customer satisfaction initiatives for the assigned Service.
  • Advise and assist the Service Chief with top-level program management aspects.
  • Maintain records of recurring reports and ensure timely submission of reports.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-12 level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
  • Experience in administering space, contracts, equipment, recruitment, data management, and budget formulation.
  • Ability to analyze policies, procedures, and practice guidelines and evaluate their impact on service delivery.
  • Experience in identifying training priorities and providing staff training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing human resources and recruitment/placement processes.
  • Technical competence in administrative operations.
