About the position

The Supervisory Aeronautical Information Specialist position at the Department of Transportation involves leading a highly technical team responsible for the development and publication of Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs) and aeronautical charts. The role requires strategic management of complex programs, ensuring compliance with operational requirements, and fostering effective communication with various stakeholders in the aviation industry.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and implement policies and procedures for assigned programs related to aeronautical charting and IFPs.
  • Ensure the safe operation of aircraft by coordinating and integrating IFPs into the National Airspace System (NAS).
  • Oversee the construction and publication of aeronautical charts and related publications for commercial, military, and general aviation.
  • Manage the collection and verification of aeronautical data and the automation of technical processes.
  • Establish long-range plans for operational responsibilities and ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Monitor production priorities and program metrics, evaluating progress and results.
  • Develop solutions to technical, budgetary, regulatory, and political issues affecting the organization.
  • Maintain effective communication with FAA regions, military representatives, and aviation industry stakeholders.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J (FG/GS-14) level.
  • Experience leading and providing technical guidance on complex aeronautical systems and programs.
  • Proficiency in designing, compiling, and maintaining aeronautical products and publications.
  • Knowledge of federal contracting, procurement, and budget management processes.
  • Experience in project management for multidisciplinary system or production activities.
