About the position

The Supervisory Aerospace Engineer position at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center serves as the deputy branch chief in the Simulation and Graphics Branch within the Software, Robotics, and Simulation Division. This role is pivotal in managing activities, leading personnel, and ensuring effective communication with NASA programmatic customers. The position involves a blend of technical and administrative responsibilities, focusing on simulation and graphics obligations while fostering a culture of diversity, inclusiveness, and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the branch chief in the administration of technical duties and act on their behalf in their absence.
  • Define jobs, select employees, and assign work; define technical work requirements and milestones; evaluate organizational and employee accomplishments.
  • Provide technical and administrative supervision to subordinate employees performing the work and function of the branch.
  • Present and defend organization and employees to senior management and other offices.
  • Apply engineering expertise to simulation and graphics components used in the development, support, and integration of NASA systems and vehicles.
  • Serve as a technical management consultant to the Division Chief and other Center or program organization elements in areas of technical responsibility.
  • Lead technical tasks in times that aren't dedicated to supervisory work to ensure that branch commitments are fully met.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory duties including assigning and evaluating work, recommending personnel actions, taking disciplinary actions, and identifying training needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level, including leading technical teams, designing simulation models, and managing budgets and task orders.
