The Operations Supervisor position at a Level 6 terminal facility involves overseeing a team of air traffic control specialists responsible for managing air traffic control assignments within a designated geographic area. This role requires a proactive approach to planning and assigning work to subordinate employees, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for setting work priorities and schedules, approving leave requests, and providing guidance and instruction to employees on both work-related and administrative matters. Evaluating employee performance is a critical aspect of this role, as the supervisor will recommend performance ratings and address any complaints or grievances that arise within the team. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Operations Supervisor plays a key role in identifying the developmental and training needs of employees, facilitating their professional growth. The supervisor is also tasked with finding ways to enhance production and improve the quality of work directed. This may involve adjusting staffing levels and work procedures based on resource decisions made at higher management levels. The Operations Supervisor will recommend goals and objectives for the area and track the team's accomplishments to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Responsibilities

  • Supervises a staff of air traffic control specialists responsible for air traffic control assignments.
  • Plans and assigns work to subordinate employees, setting work priorities and schedules.
  • Approves leave requests and provides advice, counsel, and instruction to employees.
  • Evaluates employee performance and recommends performance ratings.
  • Hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring unresolved issues to higher management.
  • Identifies and arranges for developmental and training needs of employees.
  • Implements strategies to improve production and increase work quality.
  • Adjusts staffing levels and work procedures based on higher-level resource decisions.
  • Recommends goals and objectives for the area and tracks accomplishments.
  • Communicates and reinforces diversity and EEO policies in all responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must have held an FAA 2152 FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks).
  • Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.
  • Must have held a MSS position or above for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.
